For stallions available with frozen semen (IAC):
The Technical Fees paid from now on will be 100% transferable to the 2027 breeding season if the mare does not get in foal this season.
For mares that are having difficulty becoming pregnant, please also consider the following measures, which may help identify or resolve underlying issues:
- Consider changing stallions: you may wish to choose a stallion with proven fertility that is available in chilled semen, such as ANDIAMO SEMILLY, EKANO DKS SEMILLY, KILIMANDJARO SEMILLY, NILS DE COURTIS, UNTOUCHED SON JPS or ROCK’N ROLL SEMILLY
- General health and body condition: Ensure that your mare is neither overweight nor underweight, is up to date with her deworming programme, and is in good overall health.
- Bacterial and fungal culture: If this has not already been done, have your veterinarian collect a cervical or uterine sample while the mare is in heat and send it to a laboratory for bacteriological analysis with an antibiotic sensitivity test. If the bacteriological culture is negative, a fungal culture (mycology) should also be performed. Appropriate treatment should then be administered based on the results. If a mare is carrying an infection, simply switching to chilled semen is unlikely to solve the problem.
- Avoid excessive hormonal treatments: Whenever possible, allow your mare’s cycle to function naturally and use treatments such as prostaglandins or Chorulon only when medically necessary.
- Caslick’s procedure: Ensure that your mare does not require a Caslick’s procedure. If she aspirates air through the vulva, this can negatively affect fertility.
- Regumate supplementation: Make sure your mare’s hormone levels are sufficient to maintain a pregnancy. If progesterone levels are inadequate, daily treatment with Regumate may help support the pregnancy.
